Critically Writing

This is a great session. The MEAL Plan is a perfect solution to us struggling with writing when we don't write for scholarship. I write at work all the time. I write emails, requirements plans, change management plan, and plenty that times of work.

Scholarly writing is a crazy thing. It's organized and it's balanced. You need to make sure that you back up what you say. Hmmm...provide evidence? provide analysis? link to the next part of the paper? Don't get that! Thanks for helping me get through the the MEAL plan. I get it now. It's actually logical (huh?).

There are

Write to express, not to impress! Thanks for the quote.

Dallas welcomes Capella University; Capella warms me

Attending Capella University is a journey that I think you get to experience once in your life. The commitment to get an advanced degree was at the onset as easy one. I didn't get it. I thought it was a degree that I could gain from sitting at my computer in my pajamas when everyone is sleeping in my house. It was a personal thing that only mattered to me.

I worked and completed coursework. I found myself asking why. The questions were fast and furious -- why, why, why, WHY, WHY!!!!!!! What do I have to prove? Will I really use this degree? Will I make back the money I'm spending? Will I ever, EVER get back the sleep I'm losing?

The pity party has passed and I see the value. I joined 999 other learners that will eventually become Dr PHD. And Wow! This is a rush. It's a an experience I'm having difficulty processing. There are a lot of emotions rolling around in my tummy and my heart. It's a feeling of elation, awe, happiness and pride. I'm proud to know these folks and to also know that there are a lot of others coming behind us.
